1.3 Reasons

Once you have a topic sentence, you need to support your topic sentence with reasons.

In Lesson 1.2, for example, you saw a sample topic sentence (I want to go to Vietnam). Why do I want to go to Vietnam? I need to find clear reasons.

How many reasons? To write a convincing (powerful) essay, we often use three reasons.

Here’s an example:

Topic Sentence:

I want to go to Vietnam.

Reasons:

1. I want to hear and speak the Vietnamese language.
2. I love Vietnamese food.
3. I am interested in the people.
