1.2 Topic Sentence

An essay starts with a topic sentence. The topic sentence is the main idea of your essay.

We will begin with a simple one: I want to go to ~.

Here’s an example:

I want to go to Vietnam.

Of course, you can use any topic sentence you like, for example:

• I want to go to Norway.
• I want to go to the sea.
• I want to go to my grandmother’s house.
• I want to go to the washroom …
