Unit 7 Analyze Assumptions and Biases

An assumption is a belief that we think is true. We take for granted that it is true. An assumption may, in fact, be true; however, it may be false. Here are some examples:

• The sun rises every day. 
• Women are more emotional than men.

Do you agree with these claims? Are they true? What does your intuition tell you? They are very different, but they are both assumptions.

• An assumption is a belief that we think is true.
• Our assumptions may or may not be true.
